Touring Here and There: Jul 16, 2007

Here are some maps to give a sense for my route.

In my travels, I generally followed the northern section of Adventure Cycling's Great Parks Route, minus the part from Jasper to Banff. Then I followed parts of Map 6 of Adventure Cycling's TransAmerica Route. After that, I kept to Map 6 of the southern portion of the Great Parks route, going over the Continental Divide in Rocky Mountain National Park and turning at Estes Park and going towards Lyons, CO and onwards to Boulder, CO where I stopped for two weeks.

After that, I flew to Manchester, NH, where I cycled north to Swing Out New Hampshire, held at Camp Wicosuta on the shores of Newfound Lake near Hebron, NH. After camp, I rode north to meet a friend in Rumney, NH. We then drove to Woodstock, NH where we went to Franconia Notch State Park. Next we drove to Conway, NH and then north to Mount Washington. After that we drove to Sabattus, Maine where we parted ways I rode to Nobleboro, ME connecting with the Adventure Cycling Atlantic Coast route, Map 1. I rode to the end of the Atlantic Coast route (also the end of the Northern Tier route) at Bar Harbor. From here, I rode to Bangor and onto Hermon, ME where I had a unfortunate mishap - a truck hit me (although I was only slightly hurt).

Recovering from my accident, I travelled around New England by car and then returnd to the San Francisco Bay Area for a week. Then, I flew to Southeast Asia for the third leg of my journey which involved riding in Vietnam. This time, I didn't have Adventure Cycling Maps to follow. Instead, I followed Highway 1A south from Hanoi, with a side trip along Highway 15 (Ho Chi Minh Trail Highway) and another side trip to Da Lat along Highway 20/27.
