I've paused again - this time in Maine. This time at Pemaquid Lake in Nobleboro, Maine. I will be here for a few days and then I will continue along.

There are many small farms around the area. Blueberries are popular here. They grow in the wild. These aren't the mutated ginormous blueberries that you find in the large supermarkets. These are small blueberries. But small doesn't mean tart. These are actually sweet and they have an almost grassy taste too them. In fact, I think I have now stained all of my clothing with blueberry juice. Oh well.
Other highlights lately have been riding in the rain around the area checking out the sites - the town of Waldoboro (yeah, I know, "Where's...") and riding out to the ocean at Pemaquid Point.

On one my days staying on Pemaquid Pond, I decided to go for a paddle in the yellow kayak. My hosts had left a note and a map showing the route to Duck Pond ("Pond" = Lake). I do not kayak very often, but I have a decent sense of direction. So waterproof map in hand, I put on my life jacket and headed out into the unknown. After getting lost in the inlet to the creek, I eventually followed the meandering path of the creek through a mangrove, over two beaver dams, through a culvert under Nobleboro Road (or was it Duck Pond Road at this point), and eventually into the Pond itself.
